The first American to earn the prestigious Veuve Clicquot Business Woman of the Year Award (1990), Ms. Hearn has a distinguished leadership record that includes roles on some of the most prestigious boards in the nation. She has served as Southeast Region chair for C200, which established the Nancy Sanders Peterson Scholars Award in her honor. She chaired the C200 Auction from 2000 to 2008, and her efforts have helped to raise several millions of dollars for the C200 Foundation. She also serves on the board of The Society of International Business Fellows, the Aquinas College Board of Governors, and the Mississippi University for Women’s National Board of Distinguished Women.
Ms. Hearn’s longstanding record of community activism includes current roles on the Tennessee Workforce Development Board and the Tennessee Council on Vocational Education, and has been recognized by The National Federation of Parents for Drug Free Youth. As a spokesperson for private industry, she champions the advancement of sound economic policies and professional healthcare standards.
Ms. Hearn is the mother of six adult children, two of whom are actively involved in Peterson Tool Company, Inc. Her son, John L. Peterson, Jr., serves as the firm’s president and her daughter Diane Edwards is Director of Human Resources. She is married to Billy Ray Hearn, the founder of EMI Christian Music Group.

Rodney E. HuffThe newest addition to Peterson Tool’s executive team joined the company in April of 2009 as Executive Vice President. Mr. Huff has more than 35 years experience in various aspects of, marketing, administration, sales, human resources, and operations.

In his career he has served at the C-level of several successful corporations. In addition, he assembled an impressive client list as an independent consultant prior to joining Peterson. He sits on several corporate and non-profit boards and is a Deacon in his church.
He holds a Bachelor in Economics from Shippensburg University in Pennsylvania and a Master of Business Administration from James Madison University in Virginia. Mr. Huff is also a published author.
He is married to interior designer, Lisa Huff and they have a son in college and a married daughter.

Design/EngineeringOur design and engineering department creates custom tools for each individual customer’s demand. Using OEM machine standards to set base dimensions our tools are right every time. With our Thrift® packages changeover and setup times are incredibly reduced, allowing your company to save money while also benefiting from superior tool quality.

MachiningOur machine shop allows us to create custom tools to our customer’s specifications. This department incorporates CNC Mori Seiki Lathes, HAAS and Bridgeport Milling machines. We can make pocketed insert tools that can be round or flat for reduced cost over solid cutters.

Flat GrindThis department includes our form steel grinding, secondary clearances, top rake and unloading operations. We also finish dimensions and hold tight tolerances, as close as +/-.00025, while our operators complete 100% in-process inspections.

EDM (EDG)Proprietary process used at Peterson Tool Company In which we use Electrical Discharge Grinding to remove raw material; leaving the desired form in the insert. This process is optimal because of the removal of the thick recast layer leaves a substrate that is relatively unchanged.

CoatingPeterson Coating Technologies was developed in 1998. Our coating chambers were designed to the highest standards. Our coating lab is a clean environment that utilizes a cleaning line and verification lab. We have the capability to coat in TiN, TiCN, and CrN.

Round GrindOur combined 180+ years of experience in tool and cutter grinding gives our customers superior tool quality. These tools can be solid, carbide or HSS, or brazed tip tools.

ShippingOur shipping department uses a variety of methods to ensure your product arrives safely. We use a laser marking method to clearly identify our tools for legibility.
